~Three musicians who bring happiness and pleasure to the Tucson community.
High Desert is a Tucson based musical group featuring DON HUGHES, guitarist, harmonicist and lead vocalist; LARRY LASHBROOK who plays guitar, banjo and the mandolin and JOHN JUNE on bass and MARK BRUGLER on bass. Their music is a mix of folk, classic country, blue grass and rock & roll. Performing both contemporary hits and memorable songs from the past, the band has entertained at the annual Tucson Folk Festival, as well as at private parties, local senior residential and assisted living facilities and casinos.
High Desert's laid back energy and engaging performances are a perfect addition to a monthly resident gathering, special occasion or holiday function. Read what their clients are saying about them:

High Desert Members:
Larry Lashbrook- The old man of the group, Larry has been playing music for over 50 years and will continue to until he gets it right. He is a multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, and in a pinch, bass guitar. Since retiring in 2007 he has devoted most of his time to entertaining all types of audiences. His musical influences include the Kingston Trio, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and a Canadian group, the Rankin Family
Don Hughes - Don plays acoustic guitar and harmonica and is the lead singer of the group. He received his first guitar at age 10 along with one year’s worth of lessons. Growing up in the 50’s and 60’s he was exposed to an evolution of new types of music from rock-n-roll to folk and even country and loved it all. He joined with Larry in 2003 and has enjoyed playing and singing for appreciative audiences all over Tucson. His favorite musicians besides Larry include Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Elvis, The Beatles, The Eagles and Cat Stevens. If you want to hear something good just ask Don if he knows any Johnny Cash
John June - A full time musician, John grew up in Southern California where he studied Bass under Jan Moorehead. He played the LA music scene through the seventies and early eighties while also working as the assistant engineer at Hit City West in North Hollywood, CA.
Moving to Tucson in 1983 to work with longtime friend, Dan Bunnell (the Deacon) John has played Bass for several Tucson bands including, Chuck Maltsby, Frank Manhart, Kevin Pakulis and currently with Jadi Norris Band. John also plays Southern Rock Tour with musicians, Mike Estes (Lynard Skynard), Jay Johnson (Blackfoot) and Jose’ Rossy (Patti LaBelle.
Mark Brugler - Is Technical Director for the School of Music at the University of Arizona. Also a composer, he was commissioned by Tucson Parks and Recreation in 2008 and 2010 to compose original music for productions of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and Much Ado About Nothing (respectively). Currently playing bass guitar in the DeGrazia Spanish Guitar Band and High Desert Band, he also play cello, drums, guitar, organ, and piano and sing tenor.
